Socceroos and Melbourne City goalkeeper Patrick Beach is reportedly set to join French Ligue 1 club Troyes.
According to French outlet L’Est eclair, Beach is “expected” to make the move to Troyes, who were promoted to the top tier at the end of 2025-26, following his FIFA World Cup exploits.
Troyes, like A-League club Melbourne City, are part of the City Football Group.
It is also where Aussie head coach Patrick Kisnorbo spent a brief period in charge of the club between 2022-23, having been lured from Melbourne City on the back of winning two A-League Premierships and a Championship in Melbourne.
As it stands, Beach will become the third Australian player based in a top-five league in Europe, after Socceroos teammates Alessandro Circati (Parma – Serie A) and Cristian Volpato (Sassuolo – Serie A). Jackson Irvine (St Pauli – Bundesliga) and Connor Metcalfe (St Pauli – Bundesliga) were relegated from Germany’s top flight last season, while Mat Ryan (free agent) departed LaLiga’s Levante at the conclusion of his 2025-26 contract.
For Beach, it is another big step in his career, both at club and international level.
The 22-year-old debuted for Melbourne City in 2024-25 before winning the A-League Championship, and earned his first Socceroos cap in November last year.
Speaking to Football360, City goalkeeper coach Sander Krabbendam said: “He must have success. He’s on a mission and he will go to Europe, and he will have success there.
“That’s what he goes for, and no one can stand in his way.”
He added: “I believe that his ceiling can be in the absolute top leagues in Europe. Only he has to make the right steps now, and he must continue playing.
“He can maybe make a step now to a very big club where he can come on the bench, and then his career is in danger. But if he makes steps where he starts playing and he keeps on growing every day, what he did now the last two and a half years here at Melbourne City, then there is no ceiling.”
