Australia will farewell broadcasting legand turned federal senator Derryn Hinch on Monday. Here’s how to watch the service.
Hinch, who died earlier this month aged 82, will be farewelled at a state funeral in Melbourne from 12pm.
The self-dubbed ‘human headline’ worked across TV and radio since the 1980s, even hosting his own show, Hinch Live, on Sky News Australia in 2015.
Also a radio host, Hinch became a household name thanks to his time on the airwaves, hosting a number of shows in Melbourne and Sydney over an impressive span of forty years.
In the 1980s and 1990s, he broadcast from 3AW and returned to the station in the 2000s and 2010s.
Hinch formed his own party, the Derryn Hinch Justice Party, in 2015 – which pushed for stricter sentences for violent and sexual offenders – and he was elected to represent Victoria in the Australian Senate a year later.
How to watch
The service will be broadcast live from 12pm on Sky News Extra and will be available to watch with a SkyNews.com.au streaming subscription.
The Victorian government granted Hinch a state funeral shortly after his death.
The memorial will be led by veteran broadcaster and long-time Hinch friend Darren James.
Among those paying tribute will be fellow TV legend Ray Martin.
