It was an Adelaide institution for many, and an integral part of the night-life in the city since its establishment in 1873, and now the famous Rosemont Hotel is making another comeback.

Often referred to as the premier publican of Hindley St, Rod Rose made the Rosemont Hotel part of his West End legacy after taking control of the hotel among other venues in the CBD.

The hotel is now under new management with a fresh website and Facebook page promising pub goers a new look, new vibe and a new era.

According to the venue’s new website, it is looking to re-establish itself as a premier destination in Adelaide with a focus on delivering top-notch live sports, entertainment and a dining experience which revitalises the classic pub fare.

The new owners were not in a position to provide comment, but its understood the hotel will be reopening in a couple of weeks.

One of those involved with the revival of the hotel, Glenn O’Rourke, lost his prized BMW740I on Monday following a blaze at an Edwardstown auto repair shop and said he had hoped to have the car for the opening of the hotel.

“I’m busy getting the Rosemont Hotel reopened, I’m working with another person,” he said.

“I was supposed to pick it up last Friday….. I said ‘look I’m really sorry but I’m just so busy with the last few bits of the hotel renovations’.”

The pub closed its doors back in February 2019 following Mr Rose’s death, with his children Steve, Dave and Gabby launching a garage sale of sporting memorabilia, bar paraphernalia and promotional gear.

After hitting the end of the long-term lease, the venue was picked up by GM Hotels Group only a month later.

Led by managing director Greg Maitland, the iconic venue underwent a full revamp including a name change, known as The Rosey, with fresh colours and signage adorning a new look fit-out.

The Rosey’s doors were closed again in February 2024 and the hotel was listed for sale as recently as April this year.
