A major drug trafficking crackdown north of Brisbane has led to the seizure of more than $57,000 in alleged drug money, illicit drugs, and weaponry.
The investigation, occurring throughout late June and early July, has resulted in six individuals, who police say are not connected, being slapped with a combined total of more than 130 criminal charges.
The crackdown saw authorities execute search warrants across Bald Hills, Zillmere, Carina and Stafford Heights, confiscating 3.24 kilograms of cannabis, 1.28kg of psilocybin magic mushrooms, airsoft rifles and drug paraphernalia.
On June 30, police conducted a search warrant at a Kyeema Crescent address in Bald Hills and seized illicit drugs, pepper spray and drug paraphernalia.
A 25-year-old Bald Hills man was charged with seven offences, including possession of dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of weapons.
He is expected to appear before Sandgate Magistrates Court on July 27.
On July 7, officers conducted search warrants at addresses in Stafford Heights and Carina.
At a Waratah Ave address in Carina, police seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, LSD tabs, drug utensils pipes, bongs, ritanol, vyvanse and $510 of alleged drug cash.
A 32-year-old man was charged with 73 offences, including 60 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing drug paraphernalia, and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence.
He appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 8 and was remanded in custody. He is expected to reappear on August 17.
In Stafford Heights, police seized methylamphetamine, cannabis and drug paraphernalia during a search warrant at a Farrant Street address.
A 39-year old man was charged with 26 drug-related offences.
He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 19.
On the same day, a 39-year-old Zillmere woman was charged with drug-related offences and is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 19.
Police will allege that on July 9, a 27-year-old man was found to be in possession of airsoft rifles, a small quantity of cocaine, $22,000 of alleged drug cash, 1.68kg of cannabis and a grow tent with two mature cannabis plants at a Cavalier Street property in Bald Hills.
He was charged with 12 offences, including possession of dangerous drugs, unlawful use of weapons, and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence.
He first appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 10 where he was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear on August 10.
On July 15, a 49-year-old man riding an e-scooter along Merrett Ave in Zillmere was intercepted, allegedly in possession of drugs.
Police executed a search warrant at a Crowley Street address, where police seized 1.28kg of psilocybin magic mushrooms, MDMA crystals, MCMA ecstasy, cocaine, diazepam, THC Oil, 1.56kg of cannabis and $35,100 of alleged drug cash.
He was charged with 13 offences, including possession of dangerous drugs, possessing drug paraphernalia, trafficking in dangerous drugs and possessing counterfeit money.
He is expected to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 6.
Boondall TCS Officer in Charge Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Challenger said any suppliers or traffickers that want to distribute drugs can expect police to track them down and come knocking at their door.
“The use of drugs can have catastrophic impacts on individuals and communities. We have no tolerance for anyone who seeks to distribute these dangerous substances,” he said.
