A man who allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment from the body of a Bondi shooting victim has been heckled outside court after pleading not guilty to all charges.
Danny James Ridley was heckled by a member of the public as he left the John Maddison Towers on Wednesday morning shortly after his lawyer Andrew Dikha said his client would plead not guilty to seven separate charges related to the alleged theft of more than $35,000 worth of camera equipment from a Bondi victim’s body.
Dressed in a grey pinstripe suit and a turquoise sweater, Mr Ridley remained silent as he was followed by reporters and a member of the public who repeatedly threw insults at him as he walked away.
Earlier in court, Mr Dikha said there were “a few issues” in the case related to the theft and subsequent sale of the belongings of retired police officer Peter Meagher, 61, who was killed in the terror attack.
Mr Ridley was arrested at a Marayong home on May 20 after police tasked with investigating the Bondi shooting “identified that one of the victims had his camera equipment stolen in the aftermath of the attack”.
During the search, police said they found a camera, handcuffs, and electronic devices.
While searching a car on the property, police also said they “located and seized a small amount of white crystal powder and further electronics”.
The theft is alleged to have taken place between 7.04pm and 7.15pm on December 14, minutes after the terrifying shooting spree that claimed the lives of 15 innocent people and injured 41 others.
Mr Ridley was charged with theft, disposing of stolen property, providing false information to a licensee, possession of a prohibited weapon without a permit, possessing a prohibited drug and supplying a prohibited drug.
An extra charge of theft also since been laid.
Mr Meagher, 61, had been photographing the Chanukah by the Sea event targeted by two shooters at Bondi Beach on December 14, 2025.
Affectionately referred to as “Marzo” by those close to him, Mr Meagher was a dedicated member of Randwick Rugby Club in Sydney’s east. He managed the first grade side after spending nearly 40 years in the NSW Police Force.
On April 14, Randwick memorialised Mr Meagher in a “Marzo Memorial Round” against Eastern Suburbs rugby club.
Mr Ridley will return to court on September 23.
