Two men have been charged over an alleged scheme involving the theft of almost half a million dollars during cash deliveries linked to ATMs across Melbourne.
Detectives from the Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit arrested the pair after executing warrants at properties in Mickleham and Dallas early on Wednesday morning.
Police launched the investigation last week after reports were made about suspected discrepancies involving cash collected during ATM runs.
Investigators allege more than 10 incidents occurred between April and July, with missing funds identified following ATM transport operations.
The alleged thefts involved cash movements across several Melbourne suburbs, including Tarneit, Keilor Downs, Delahey, Craigieburn, Sandringham, South Melbourne, Clifton Hill, Essendon, Pascoe Vale and Mill Park.
Police allege the total value of the missing cash was close to $500,000.
A 25-year-old Dallas man and a 44-year-old Mickleham man were arrested as part of the investigation.
Both men have since been charged with 11 counts of theft.
They were remanded in custody and are due to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The investigation remains ongoing.
