An east coast couple say they’re “done” with working after taking home an eye-watering $40 million in last night’s Powerball draw.
The Brisbane pair, from Kenmore, southwest of the CBD, took home the only division one prize across the country in Thursday’s Powerball draw 1575.
In an understandably overwhelming moment, the winning man was left struggling to comprehend the life-changing news after receiving the call.
“F*** no! What? Are you kidding me?” he said to The Lott staff after claiming the win.
The winner, described as “middle-aged,” said he simply “couldn’t believe” his luck.
“My heart is racing,” he added
As for his wife, it took her a moment to accept her new reality.
“This is unreal — this can’t be real. I was just joking when the phone rang, ‘It could be The Lott’,” she said.

New win ‘changes everything’ for Brisbane pair
The Brisbane man said he “gets Powerball tickets every now and then” as a “treat” for himself, but never expected to take home such a whopping sum.
“I’m stoked. I feel like crying,” he said. “This changes everything for us.
“I’ve dreamt of this, but never imagined this happening to us. We’ll pay off the mortgage and set up the kids and family.
“As for work… we’re done. We were just saying the other day, ‘Isn’t there more to life than this?’, and now there is and we’re going to enjoy it to the full and make the most of it.”
Their couple’s PowerHit entry also delivered 19 division two wins, taking their total prize haul to an incredible $40,724,820.55.
The winning QuickPick entry was purchased through The Lott app.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1575 were 12, 27, 7, 18, 30, 11 and 34, with the all-important Powerball number 16.
