British rapper Yung Filly has told a court a young woman who accused him of sexual assault was “grunting and moaning in a good way” during their interaction.

The performer – whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos – pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of sexual assault, assault and choking in the Perth District Court over an alleged encounter with a woman in September 2024.

The woman accused the YouTube star of assaulting her inside a Perth hotel room after they started engaging in consensual sex following a gig at Hillary’s Boat Harbour.

Mr Barrientos admitted in court he did not know much about the young woman who he met and “fancied” at a Perth nightclub, other than she had a bubbly personality and her name.

He said he invited her back to his hotel room, but admitted that he never asked if she wanted to have sex with him.

“I asked her to come back with me … (I said) Do you want to come home with me,” he told the court.

He said they kissed and engaged in several sexual positions at the hotel, but the woman never gave any indication of displeasure or discomfort.

His lawyer David Edwardson asked him what they were doing while they were engaged in sex.

“In England we would call it a love bite, my mouth on her skin, it involves sucking,” Mr Barrientos told the court.

“My teeth were involved, to some extent, my tongue was also involved too.

“She was kissing, she made sexual noises, grunting and moaning in a good way.”

He said after he engaged in sexual activity with the woman they were on the bed talking.

“She was good, she has quite a good personality was bubbly and chatty.

“She was enjoying being in my presence.”

Mr Edwardson asked his client if he ever said anything to his bodyguard about her performance?

“No, the sex was great,” Mr Barrientos replied.

Under cross-examination, Mr Barrientos agreed he fancied the woman in the crowd and he was attracted to her big breasts, but denied squeezing them or putting his hands down her pants.

“I could tell by her energy she was happy to be in my presence. I was stood chatting to some of my team and she was staring at me,” he said.

“Did it make you feel good she was giving you this attention?” Prosecutor Danielle Clarke asked.

“It was humbling,” Mr Barrientos replied.

“Did you think you were going to have sex with her?” the prosecutor pressed.

“Yes,” he said.

“Did you assume she was a fan showing you all this attention she would just want to have sex with you?” the prosecutor asked.

“No, I would never assume that,” he replied.

The rapper told the court he spoke to the woman inside the VIP area for about 10 minutes and they had short conversations throughout the night, before leaving the bar and it was enough time to figure her out and know what her personality was like.

While giving evidence, Mr Barrientos told the court he remembered complimenting the 20-year-old woman when they first met a Perth nightclub following the gig.

“I fancied her, we got chatting, that was it,” he said.

“I put my hand on her waist.”

The YouTube star denied putting his hand down the woman’s pants or touching her breast, which she testified happened.

“I did not, that did not happen,” Mr Barrientos said.

The rapper told the court he could not remember specifically what they talked about.

“But she had good vibes about her,” he said.

He said he invited the woman to join her and she was the inside a minivan when they left the venue, but he did not recall how she ended up in the car.

“I asked her to come back with me . (I said) ‘Do you want to come home with me?,’” he said.

At the hotel, Mr Barrientos said the vibes were good, and he went to his room with the young woman.

“(My bodyguard) always stays a couple of doors down from me, if not next door.

“I go straight to my room with (the woman), I believe (my bodyguard) followed me in … he probably did to get her phone if he didn’t get it in the car.

“That is standard practice, for someone like me, to protect our privacy.”

During the first week of the trial, a court was told how the Perth woman wore her lucky outfit hoping to meet her celebrity crush at Bar1 Nightclub in the city’s north.

She took several videos from the venue that were played in court in which she proclaimed: “I am going to get married and have his baby”, “I got touched by Yung Filly in a good way”, and “I love Filly”.

The woman told the court she met the YouTube star inside the VIP area where she alleged he put his hands down her pants and said, “You’re coming home with me tonight”, but she removed them and said to him, “I am not like that.”

She claimed he touched her breast and she said, “You can’t do that”, and he responded, “Really shows your age.”

The woman told the court she thought she was going to an after-party with the rapper and his entourage when she hopped into a van with them later in the evening.

The woman claimed she realised there was no after-party when they arrived at the Intercontinental Hotel in Perth, where the alleged offences took place.

The woman alleged they started engaging in consensual sexual activity inside a hotel room, but it quickly became non-consensual and violent when Yung Filly bit, slapped and raped her.

The trial continues.
