An emotional man appeared in court with tears streaming down his face after being charged over a woman’s murder.
According to Victoria Police, emergency services discovered a 29-year-old woman with critical injuries at a home on Generation Dr in Clyde North at about 6.30pm on Sunday night.
She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she later died.
In a statement, police said a 32-year-old man, believed to be known to the woman, was arrested at the scene.
The following day, Jorden Turney appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court, where he was visibly emotional.
Wearing a blue T-shirt and flanked by two custody officials, Mr Turney was seen red-faced and sobbing, dabbing his eyes with a tissue.
He also took deep exhales while nodding along to the filing hearing.
The court was told police were seeking a longer than usual period to prepare their case, pointing to phone analytics and forensic investigations that were expected to lead to delays.
Mr Turney’s lawyer also requested he be seen by a custody nurse, noting his client had ”a history of psychiatric illness”.
He was remanded into custody by magistrate Vincenzo Caltabiano to return to court on November 30.
Before he left, Mr Turney thanked the magistrate and said; “Make sure you bring this case to justice”.
