A draft legacy plan has been released by the Queensland State Government for the Victoria Park Precinct, outlining the long-term vision for one of Brisbane’s most significant sporting, recreation and public open space precincts ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Prepared by the Queensland Government’s Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, the draft plan brings together the proposed Brisbane Stadium, National Aquatic Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds and Athletes Village into a single coordinated precinct vision. The draft is now available for public consultation before a final legacy plan is released in 2027.

The State Government website outlirnd “This draft plan sets out how the Victoria Park Precinct can grow into a more accessible, better-connected community hub for Brisbane. With open space, easier ways to get around and new places to gather, play and experience the city.
The 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games are a chance to create an iconic Brisbane destination that people will enjoy, use and value long after the event.
Whether it’s a morning walk, a ride through the park, time outdoors with family and friends, or the buzz of a big game, the aim is to create a place people feel drawn to – somewhere that’s easy to reach, welcoming to all and becomes part of everyday life
Public consultation on the draft legacy plan will open 9am, Monday 3 August 2026”.

Precinct Vision
The draft plan describes Victoria Park as a future destination that combines recreation, events, entertainment and parklands while strengthening connections between surrounding education, health, transport and residential precincts. The vision includes restoring natural landscape features, increasing tree canopy, creating new wetlands, and improving biodiversity that was removed by the stadium installation.
The precinct has been planned around several key principles including:
Liveability
Hosting major events
Accessibility
Connection to place, culture and history
Environmental resilience
Long-term investment and legacy outcomes.

The result will be a more connected Victoria Park Precinct, whether you’re walking, riding, catching public transport or travelling on to somewhere else.
