Think long lunches, thoughtful wine pairings and conversations with some of Australia’s leading producers.

Held on select Sundays throughout the year, Arts Centre Melbourne’s The Barre Lunch Series brings together acclaimed names from the worlds of wine, beer and the arts. Each event pairs a seasonal multi-course menu with carefully matched drinks, while guest hosts share stories about the people, places and craft behind every pour.

Set in the elegance of The Barre, the Lunch Series is as much about conversation as it is about food and drink. Expect menus celebrating Australian produce at its seasonal best, expertly paired drink selections and an intimate atmosphere where guests can ask questions, learn from industry experts and connect with fellow diners.

The next instalment of the series takes place on Sunday September 13 with acclaimed Adelaide Hills winery Shaw + Smith. Hosted by Hilary Fordham, wine connoisseur at Joval Wines, the afternoon pairs a four-course seasonal menu by new sous-chef Scott Webber with a selection of the winery’s celebrated cool-climate wines, including sauvignon blanc, pinot noir and M3 chardonnay. Alongside the tasting, guests will hear stories of the winery’s history, its winemaking philosophy and the distinctive character of the Adelaide Hills.

The Barre is Arts Centre Melbourne’s contemporary restaurant and bar, serving a seasonal modern Australian menu, local wines, cocktails and craft beers in the heart of Melbourne’s arts precinct.
