Aldi has recalled a popular light-up plush toy sold in its Special Buys range after some toys overheated, with incidents reported where they caught fire.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued a recall on Friday for the Findon Light Up Sensory Plush, sold in Aldi stores between July 4 and July 14.
The ACCC warned that the toy’s circuit board is non-compliant and could overheat, posing a risk of serious burns and property damage.

The plush toys were available in koala, Highland cow, axolotl and penguin designs and contained batteries.
The ACCC confirmed overheating incidents have already occurred and urged customers to stop using the toys immediately, remove the batteries and keep them out of children’s reach.

The toys were part of the supermarket’s beloved Special Buys offer, which offers items not typically sold in grocery stores, such as gym equipment.

The plush toys were sold at Aldi for 10 days from July 4.
