An Adelaide beauty salon business that had its roots in Port Adelaide and made it all the way to the new-look multimillion Burnside Village has gone into voluntary liquidation.
The Gym Beauty Group Pty Ltd has been wound up and Stephen James, who leads the BCR Advisory team in Adelaide, appointed as its liquidator.
The company was founded by Beatriz “Bea” Masiero Vrettos in 2019.
The website for its Mile End salon The Gym states: “It started with a treatment bed in a stairwell in Port Adelaide, a $50 ad on Facebook, and a hundred clients who showed up and just kept coming back. Bea was working ten hour days, seven days a week, building something she believed in with people who believed in her. Without those original clients, none of this would have happened, and this is the story of how we came to be.”
Available treatments included lymphatic facials, body sculpting and a Japanese hair spa treatment.
A sister salon Elara Medispa at Burnside Village, which had its official opening almost 12 months ago has a deactivated Instagram account.
It is listed on the Burnside Village directory as being “temporarily closed”.
Elara opened at Burnside Village close to 12 months ago with a VIP launch party where guests included Jess Head, who is the wife of Aussie cricket superstar Travis Head and former Plus One owner Eli Moulton.
“Launch night for the beautiful @elara.spa at @burnsidevillage … such a lux and comfortable space. Highlight: I may have met the real life dancing emoji,” Jess posted on social media.
The Gym beauty salon at Mile End’s website is still active.
In 2024 Ms Masiero Vrettos featured on The Advertiser’s list of “50 South Australia innovative business women kicking goals’.
“Each service and treatment we offer is designed to empower and uplift, whether it’s through skilfully executed treatments or educating future beauty professionals,” Ms Masiero Vrettos said at the time.
“My passion comes from seeing the confidence that radiates from clients when they embrace their own beauty.”
The Advertiser contacted The Gym Beauty Group Pty Ltd, BCR Advisory and Burnside Village’s public relations company for comment.
BCR Advisory’s Mr James told The Advertiser he had received an offer from an interested party to purchase The Gym.
“They are looking to honour all gift vouchers and they will be speaking to the team about re-employment options,” he said.
