A young man has died in a serious workplace incident in the Adelaide Hills.

SA Ambulance crews were called to Harrison Rd at Charleston, near Lobethal, at 6.20am with SES and CFS crews responding to assist with an industrial rescue.

Police said a 26-year-old man from the southern suburbs was found deceased at the worksite.

“Police are preparing a report for the Coroner following a workplace death at Charleston,” he said.

“Safework SA have been notified and are investigating.”

The incident was on open land that property records reveal is owned by Adelaide Hills Council.

Witnesses said they saw SafeWork vehicles entering the property.

The entrance to the site remained shut on Wednesday afternoon.
