Global dining phenomenon Diner En Blanc is returning to Adelaide after a near decade-long absence.
The mysterious outdoor feast – held annually in a secret location and attended by hundreds of guests dressed entirely in white – will make a comeback on Saturday, December 5.
As is tradition, aspiring diners need to register online for a chance at securing a coveted ticket to the secretive event.
If successful, participants will gather at meeting points across the city and are escorted to the final location.
Last held in Adelaide in 2019, previous dinners have been hosted in Rundle Mall, Elder Park, Adelaide Zoo and Rymill Park.
Kirsty Aitken, producer of the revived local event, said this year’s Diner En Blanc is sure to be a memorable experience for all guests.
“The location will stay under wraps until guests arrive at the venue. Believe me, I’ve been asked and even bribed with French champagne, but the secret is safe,” she said.
“What I can promise is that the wait will be worth it.”
The first Le Diner En Blanc was held in 1988 by François Pasquier, who organised a picnic in a public park with a group of friends.
Each guest was asked to bring a meal and a friend, and dress in white so they could identify each other.
After continuing as an annual event in Paris, it travelled internationally to Montreal, and in 2011, New York.
It’s grown into an international movement, held in more than 120 cities across 40 countries.
Tickets will go on sale in early September. Pre-register at adelaide.dinerenblanc.com
