A South Australian man has been charged after allegedly making a deluge of threatening online posts about the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
AFP officers swooped on the Adelaide home of a 40-year-old man on Thursday, following an investigation launched in January.
It is alleged the man made a host of threatening posts on social media, directed at the AFP, over a period of several months.
The probe was led by the AFP’s National Security Investigations (NSI) team, which was established in October of last year to target groups and individuals “causing high levels of harm to Australia’s social cohesion”.
The man was arrested at his home and his mobile phone was seized.
Police allege that threatening messages directed at the AFP were posted over the course of several months through a social media account linked to the man.
“The AFP’s National Security Investigations team began an investigation in January 2026, after receiving information about allegedly threatening messages targeting the AFP, which were posted on social media platforms,” an AFP spokesman said in a statement.
“The AFP linked the man, 40, to the alleged offending and executed a search warrant at an Adelaide home on Thursday.”
The man has charged with one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence and was released on bail.
He is due to appear before magistrates in Adelaide on September 29.
