The Broncos enlisted a university academic to help conduct that review in which players completed an online survey.
The Broncos finished the 2024 season, Walters’ fourth year in charge, with a 10-14 record and need to win all four remaining matches this year to equal that.
Regardless, Morris was adamant Maguire is the man to coach the Broncos into 2027 and beyond.
“I can one hundred per cent confirm that we would love him to be our long-term coach,” he said.
“He is hurting as much as anyone.
“The number of players he has had to bring through and coach in positions they’ve never played before for the Broncos has made it a very difficult year for the coach.
“We think he is the long-term coach. We’ve just got to make sure he has the right people and structure around him.”
That structure is set to come under the microscope.
The Broncos have grown into a $98 million powerhouse and the review will look at whether the club’s current organisational structure is suitable for the NRL’s biggest franchise.
Maguire is also expected to make changes to his football department, particularly after he did not directly replace Te’o, the team’s dedicated defence coach.
“Our role as a board is to help pick the right coach and be as supportive as we can in terms of what he needs to be as successful as possible,” Morris said.
“The injuries have been a problem, but the effort in a few games, particularly in defence, has been a concern.
“Defence is what wins games and our defence has been poor to lacking.
“(Maguire) is as disappointed as anyone and is keen to make sure we do this review and no stone is left unturned when it comes to the hard decisions we have to make.
“There is a lot going on in the NRL with new teams coming in that is changing the dynamics around recruitment and structures in clubs.
“You need to have the right structures in place.”
Maguire is heading into the final season of his initial three-year contract with the Broncos.
Despite some poor performances, particularly during an eight-game losing streak, Maguire has remained steadfast in his belief the Broncos have been trying hard and remains confident he can turn things around next year.
“My staff and players come in here every day wanting to get the results that everyone wants,” Maguire said.
“We’ve been through a period that’s been challenging, but I really believe it’s going to make this group.
“We’ve had a year that I’ve never experienced as a coach with the injuries and everything that’s been thrown at us.
“We’re setting ourselves up going into a good pre-season and getting on with what’s ahead.
“There’s some really good alignment across the organisation. Everyone’s going through it and everyone wants to be in the place where we were in October last year.
“We’re all playing our part.”
