An elderly One Nation staffer has been hospitalised after an alleged assault at Brisbane’s Ekka.

The alleged attack took place at Brisbane Showgrounds on Thursday while the staffer, who was wearing One Nation-branded clothing, was running a stand at the agricultural show.

It’s understood the woman, who is a grandmother in her 60s, was assaulted in a group attack involving three females and one male.

One of the females allegedly spat at the staff member while the male allegedly grabbed and punched her.

The elderly staffer was hospitalised and it’s understood she has a broken rib.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told News24: “Police are aware of an altercation at Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills on 14 August.

“No formal complaints have been made to police at this stage.”

One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce addressed the incident on Monday.

“She (the victim) was wearing a One Nation T-shirt… She was spat at, punched, they broke a rib,” Mr Joyce told 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

“This is the wondrous, enlightened people like you saw at those demonstrations the other day. The peace-loving people.”

“The reason they do that is they absolutely hate One Nation; they had chants the other day that they wanted to murder Pauline Hanson,” he added.

It comes after thousands of student protesters chanted Ms Hanson should “go to hell” at rallies held across the country.

Large crowds gathered in capital cities on Thursday for the “Say No to Hanson” protests, where schoolchildren said they were standing up to “racism”.

The High School Anti-Capitalists organised the demonstrations, calling on students to walk out of classrooms in opposition to One Nation.

During a rally held in Melbourne, a protester was caught on camera stealing a microphone from a News24 reporter.

Victoria Political Reporter Georgie Dickerson was reporting on the rally when a protester ran up to her and grabbed her microphone.

Dickerson attempted to wrestle the microphone back off the protester and the scuffle was caught on air.

The reporter revealed she was forced to “chase down” the protester to retrieve the microphone.
