Eugenie names baby Adelaide
The princess, 36, said she and her husband Jack Brooksbank chose a name from “three people we love and admire past and present,” and Eugenie said her daughter’s names were “part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home”.
Buckingham Palace announced the baby’s birth on August 3, and the post said King Charles and Queen Camilla were “delighted” at the news.
Eugenie gave birth in Portugal, where she and Brooksbank live when not in London, and the baby is the third child for the couple following August in 2021 and Ernest in 2023 at the Portland Hospital in London.

The baby is 15th in line to the throne and is not expected to receive a royal title, according to Nine.au, and the new arrival is the third child for Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank.
The name “Elizabeth” was taken from Eugenie’s grandmother Elizabeth II, who the princess said “we hold close in our hearts,” and “Adelaide” was inspired by Queen Adelaide, who was married to King William IV and queen consort between 1830 to 1837.

In addition to the naming, the source says the baby would have been the 15th great-grandchild of the late queen and the third to be born since her death in 2022.
Birth details and public reaction
Eugenie’s Instagram post included three new photos, including one of her sons August, five, and Ernest, three, with their new sister, and she wrote, “Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers.”
The AP-style report in WRAL says the girl born Aug. 3 in Lisbon, Portugal, weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces (3-kilogram), and it quotes Eugenie saying, “Two weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world.”
Royal fans responded to the announcement with comments praising the name, and News24 quoted one fan saying, “Such a beautiful name and lovely pictures. I’m sure the late Queen is so happy with this wonderful and proper tribute.”
