Not all pooches are considered pretty. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have hearts of gold.

With the Best Dog in Show having just been announced at the Ekka in Brisbane, Triple M Brisbane’s Marto, Margaux & Dan decided it was time to recognise the dogs that aren’t best in show – but are wonderful companions all the same.

And so, Brisbane’s Ugliest Dog has been crowned – with Coco The Crack Rat from The Gap taking home the prize.

Six of Brisbane’s ugliest dogs strutted their stuff down the green (astroturf) carpet.

The winner was crowned at Ballymore Stadium forecourt, where a panel of esteemed judges took into consideration everything from questionable walking techniques to just plain bad looks.

Marto said “We didn’t think the dogs would be this ugly. These heads are the heads that only a mother could love, but there’s no shortage of love for the ugly dogs of Brisbane.”

Dan added “When I first saw Coco the Crack Rat, I wasn’t actually sure if it was a dog or not. She very much deserves the title of Brisbane’s Ugliest Dog and will be tough to beat next year when we do it again.”

Ugly perhaps, but nevertheless very much loved.
