Danish midfielder Emiliano Marcondes, a former teammate of Socceroos striker Mohamed Toure at Norwich City, has joined Melbourne City.
Marcondes, 31, has signed a season-long deal with the Melbourne club after leaving Norwich following the Canaries’ 2025-26 English Championship campaign.
“I’d heard a lot of positive things about the club, the style of football the team wants to play and the ambition that exists here, and my first impressions since arriving have only reinforced that,” said he former Danish under-21 international, who has also had stints with Brentford, Bournemouth and Hibernian.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing in teams that want to control the ball and play positive football … and will do everything I can to help bring success to the club.”
City’s football director Michael Petrillo said Marcondes’ “experience and creativity would add another exciting dimension” to the team’s attack.
“He’s a player we’ve admired for some time and brings a level of experience that speaks for itself after so many years competing in Denmark and England,” Petrillo said.
“His creativity, technical quality and football intelligence make him an excellent fit for the way we want to play, and we believe he’ll have a significant influence on our attacking play.
“Just as importantly, Emiliano has consistently performed in structured, possession-based teams throughout his career, and we’re excited to see the impact he’ll have within our environment.”
