Brisbane Roar has confirmed the signing of Virgiliu Postolachi, with the Moldovan international striker to link with his new teammates on the club’s pre-season tour of Indonesia.

NewsWire reported last week that the former Paris Saint-Germain youth team marskman was joining Brisbane on a two-year deal from Romanian top-flight club Universitatea Cluj, where he scored two goals in 19 appearances.

In confirming Postolachi’s signing, Roar sporting director James Gow said the 26-year-old attacker would further “build” Brisbane’s squad “in the right direction”.

“Virgiliu’s signing brings the team a striker who can play with his back to goal, wins the ball in the air, and gives us a way of attacking heading into the (A-League) season,” Gow said.

Postolachi – who has scored once in 37 appearances for Moldova – has also had spells with two other Romanian clubs, UTA Arad and CFR Cluj, French outfit Grenoble, Belgian side Mouscron and Danish team Vendsyssel.

“I’m excited to be joining Brisbane Roar and for the new challenge of playing in Australia,” Postolachi said.

“I’m hungry and ready to give my all for the club and its fans.”

The Roar will play two games in Indonesia. On Thursday, they meet Dewa United at Banten International Stadium before taking on Persija Jakarta at Jakarta International Stadium on Saturday night.
