The Australian clothing brand brought its outback roots to the Festival’s 21st year, with medal-winning swimmers Shayna Jack, Mollie Callaghan, Meg Harris and Lani Pallister among those taking to the runway.

Fresh from international competition, the Queensland-based athletes modelled pieces from Kidman’s Mulga Collection, inspired by the Australian landscape, alongside looks from the Kidman x Shayna range.

The runway styling was completed with jewellery by Queensland designer Margot McKinney.

Gina Rinehart said the decision to bring the athletes and Kidman to the Festival reflected the brand’s strong Queensland connections.

“We have great confidence in Lindsay, the BFF director,” Rinehart said.

“And we wanted Olympic and Commonwealth Games swimmers to enthusiastically model after their fantastic performances at both international events. Most medal-winning swimmers are based in Queensland.”

Rinehart said the practicality of the collection was also part of its appeal.

“I spent a lot of my years in the office, and I would have loved to wear clothes like this, especially ones that can then go on to evening functions.”

Festival director Lindsay Bennett welcomed Kidman to the program, bringing a distinctly Australian story to the Brisbane runway.
