Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast across Australia as one city recorded its wettest August day in decades.
A low-pressure system brought record rainfall to parts of South Australia on Tuesday morning as Port Lincoln set a new record for the wettest August day, with 50mm of rainfall recorded.
Meanwhile, Adelaide recorded 30mm, making it the wettest August day in 34 years.
The city is on track to record its wettest winter in 22 Years.
Rain and storms will continue across New South Wales and Queensland on Wednesday morning as a trough moves eastward.
Thunderstorms are possible on the New South Wales ranges and western slopes, and southeast Queensland early in the morning.
Showers and thunderstorms are forecast in Queensland’s south-east on Wednesday morning, but are expected to clear in the afternoon.
Light showers are possible for Queensland’s coast, south of Rockhampton, but it is expected to be a warm day, with temperatures in Rockhampton reaching 30C and 28C in Gladstone.
Victoria is forecast for a milder Wednesday as the wet weather eases, and is set for a dry and partly cloudy day.
“A shower or two on the south of the divide, but that is it. Otherwise, it’s dry and partly cloudy,” News24 meteorologist Alison Osborne said.
Gusty winds are forecast along Tasmania’s southeast coastline combined with showers.
Tasmania’s north, on the other hand, is forecast for a “dry and sunny” Wednesday.
Weather is calming down in South Australia, but Osborne said there could be a foggy start through agricultural regions as well as across the coast.
It will otherwise clear to a dry, partly cloudy day, reaching a high of 17C in Renmark.
Western Australia is facing a day of heavy rainfall through western parts of the south-west land division, but showers are forecast to extend as far north as Geraldton before moving southwards towards Albany.
There is elevated fire danger through northern parts of Western Australia, and there is the risk of a shower through the Top End.

Cool and partly cloudy weather is forecast in Melbourne with a slight chance of a shower.
A low of 9C and a high of 15C are expected.
Brisbane
Early morning showers are forecast in Brisbane with a slight chance of thunderstorms.
Temperatures will range between a low of 16C and a high of 26C.
Hobart
Hobart locals will wake up to a breezy day on Wednesday with a slight chance of showers.
Temperatures will range between a low of 8C and a high of 13C.
Adelaide
Fog is expected to hit some areas in Adelaide on Wednesday.
A low of 8C and a high of 17C are expected.
Perth
Perth is forecast for heavy rainfall and the risk of flash flooding west of the city.
Temperatures will drop to a low of 10C and reach a high of 20C.
Canberra
A high chance of showers is forecast for Australia’s capital.
Temperatures will hover between a low of 7C and a high of 18C.
Darwin
Darwin remains hot and dry.
Temperatures will range between a low of 22C and a high of 34C.
