Australia’s oldest family-owned bean-to-bar chocolate maker will open the doors of its first Queensland store on Friday morning with more than 280 varieties available in the Haigh’s Brisbane shop.
Founded in Adelaide in 1915, Haigh’s Chocolates will open its store at Westfield Mount Gravatt and fans will have the chance to buy an extensive range of artisan chocolates while enjoying complimentary tastings in-store.
Haigh’s Chocolates chief executive, Peter Millard said the reaction since announcing the company’s arrival in Brisbane had been overwhelmingly positive.
“Since announcing that we were coming to Brisbane, we have had so many Haigh’s fans and online customers reaching out, asking where they can visit and when we will be open,” he said.
“Queensland has been one of our strongest online markets for years so opening our first store at Westfield Mt Gravatt marks the start of establishing our bricks and mortar experience here, with Chermside and Carindale to follow in November.”
Haigh’s Chocolates was founded by Alfred E Haigh and it is still run by the fourth generation of the family.
Haigh’s currently have 23 retail stores in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra, which will be expanding to 26 by the end of 2026 with the three new Brisbane stores.
Chocolate Speckles are one of Haigh’s most popular chocolates and the company produces 126 tonnes, equivalent to 25 million individual speckles, a year.
The Chocolate Frog is an iconic Haigh’s product synonymous with the brand. Haigh’s have been making frogs since the 1930s. Each year 6 million Chocolate Frogs of all sizes (three sizes in four flavours) are produced.
The company has also been producing over 20 million individual milk and dark chocolate Scorched Almonds each year.
Westfield Mt Gravatt centre manager Kel Walsh said the team was excited to welcome Haigh’s first Brisbane store.
“As one of Australia’s iconic chocolate makers, Haigh’s is a much-loved brand, and we’ve seen strong anticipation from customers ahead of the opening,” he said.
“We look forward to introducing more Brisbane customers to the premium quality and exceptional service that has made Haigh’s a favourite for generations.”
On opening day, the first 50 customers to visit and make a purchase at the Haigh’s Chocolates at the store will receive a free Milk Chocolate Midi Frog.
Additionally, customers who spend $75 or more in-store will receive a complimentary packet of Milk Chocolate Speckles with the offer running to September 4.
