A man has been charged with attempted murder after heavily-armed police arrested him days after he allegedly shot another man in Brisbane’s north.
The shooting happened at Centre St, Aspley, where a 24-year-old Aspley man was found with two gunshot wounds, on Tuesday, August 25.
He was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
There was blood on the front gate and front lawn of a home near where the man was shot, while a gun was found nearby.
Following the shooting, police attended a home at Richards Rd, Narangba in relation to a wanted person about 2.30pm on Friday, August 28.
Officers could be heard using speakerphones to negotiate with a man inside the home.
At the time, members of the public were told to stay away from the area.
Police later took the man into custody.
The accused, Brandon Phillip Manton, had his matter briefly mentioned at Brisbane Arrest Court on Saturday and adjourned to October 26.
He did not appear in court and was remanded in custody, after the court heard he would not be making a bail application at this stage.
Manton, 33 of Narangba was arrested at the address and charged with eight offences including one count of attempted murder. He was also charged with one count of contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically, possessing restricted items and obstruct police, and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.
He will face the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
Aspley residents Matt Gerrard and Hannah McCaley said they were asleep when a man was allegedly shot right outside their house.
“We woke up to the loudest bang ever. Then we heard someone screaming for help and screaming for their mum,” Mr Gerrard said.
“When we heard ‘I’ve been shot’, we just ran out of the house as quick as we could.
“He just collapsed to the ground, and there was just so much blood all over his leg.
“My partner was on the phone to police while … I got the towel and started applying pressure to his leg.”
Ms McCaley said the sound of the gunshot was unmistakeable.
