A man is fighting for his life after being shot in the back in a southwest Sydney home on Saturday night, in what is suspected to be the city’s latest underworld-linked attack.
Emergency services were called to the home on Randolph St at South Granville about 7.40pm.
Police officers were told a number of men went into the home, the man was shot, and the men left in a white SUV.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the man was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The shooting comes after a stretch in which NSW Police have largely managed to stifle the underworld violence that had become somewhat commonplace on Sydney’s streets.
Jack Cheung’s murder at Carlingford on July 15 is the last gangland-linked assassination.
But there have been other near-misses, including earlier this month, when a man in his 60s was shot after a pair of balaclava-clad gunmen burst into his family home and opened fire.
The victim was an innocent relative of a crime family and had no involvement in any of the conflict that the family has been alleged to be involved in on Sydney’s streets.
Police sources have become increasingly concerned by a change in the attitude of some in the underworld in 2026, after a significant number of shooting attempts – similar to the one earlier this month – targeting innocent relatives of crime figures.
That is a significant contrast to years gone by and the high-profile executions, and attempts, on some of Sydney’s biggest underworld kingpins.
A key element of the NSW Police fight against organised crime has been Taskforce Falcon. Since being set up in mid-2025 amid an escalation in shooting violence involving the Alameddine clan, it has made around 700 arrests and laid more than 1700 charges.
