Isaac Heeney has deleted his Instagram account in the wake of the alleged sexual assault involving Sydney Swans players at Melbourne’s Pullman hotel as Victorian police seek to interview the five players this week.
Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, James Jordon and Riley Bice were stood down for the remainder of the 2026 AFL season for breaching club standards by staying out late drinking and bringing exotic dancers to the hotel on the morning of Monday, August 17 following a round 23 win over Essendon in Melbourne.
Heeney has been the focus of the investigation so far, while the Daily Telegraph reports detectives from the Victorian Crime Squad plan to interview the five players in Sydney this week.
The report states another player may be questioned under caution regarding his behaviour in the hotel room.
Three women have made sexual assault and sexual misconduct claims and have sought legal advice, engaging civil lawyers.
The Swans have confirmed five players were present inside a hotel room when a woman claims she was sexually assaulted.
As first reported by The Herald Sun, the woman at the centre of the allegations has claimed up to nine men were present.
It has been reported former Swans player Taylor Adams was with the group during the night, but it’s unclear if he was in the room when the alleged assault occurred.
The exotic dancers, arranged through Party Girls Melbourne, were called after 4am and were seen in the hotel foyer speaking with hotel staff and Swans employees, including coach Dean Cox, before 7am.
Four senior Sydney Swans staff members, including Cox, have provided statements to police.
Head of football Leon Cameron, communications boss Tom Chadwick and head of wellbeing and development Brett Kirk gave statements to police. None of the four club officials was in the room when the women were there and alleged they were assaulted.
The Swans players have denied any criminal wrongdoing, and no charges have been laid. The police investigation remains ongoing.
It comes as Heeney deleted his Instagram account. He had 115,000 followers on the social media platform, but his account has been deactivated — an error message appears when attempting to view his profile.
“Sorry, this page isn’t available,” the error message reads.
“The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.”
The 30-year-old’s fiancee Steffanie Waters has travelled away from their Sydney home and headed to Noosa to escape the scandal. The couple got engaged in French Polynesia last October.
The four other players still have active Instagram accounts but have not posted since the scandal.
The five Swans players were ruled ineligible for selection in the AFL’s All-Australian team and have also been banned from attending the Brownlow Medal on September 21.
Heeney’s sponsorship deals with Colgate and Telstra have been suspended, his children’s book series has been pulled from shelves and he has been dropped from the kids’ football camps program he helped start.
Kmart has removed collectable bobbleheads of Sydney Swans stars, including Heeney and Warner, from sale.
The Sydney Swans play the Brisbane Lions at the SCG on Saturday afternoon in a qualifying final.
