A new revised draft masterplan has been revealed, which outlines an expansive green parklands proposal around Brisbane’s future 63,000-seat Olympic stadium at Victoria Park, as preparations continue for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Queenslander Design for Victoria Park Stadium Brisbane 2032 Olympic Venue (2)The latest vision for the precinct was publicly outlined by the current Queensland Premier David Crisafulli, and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie during a Brisbane press conference on May 7, where the State Government confirmed that approximately two thirds of the parkland would remain as publicly accessible green space. This is opposite to the election commitment, which outlined that no new stadiums would be constructed.

The proposed precinct will transform large sections of the inner-city site into landscaped open space featuring wetlands, walking tracks, boardwalks, recreation areas and native planting, while integrating the future Brisbane Stadium into the natural terrain rather than dominating the skyline. According to the State Government, the broader 2032 Delivery Plan is intended to deliver long-term infrastructure benefits across Queensland, including upgrades extending beyond Brisbane to regional sporting venues and transport infrastructure.

No Mixed-Use Development Included

While the new revised draft vision includes extensive parklands and public recreation areas surrounding the future Brisbane Stadium, the released concept material does not show new apartments, hotel developments, restaurant precincts or commercial office buildings within the early masterplan imagery released by the State Government. Similarly, no new pedestrian connections over the inner city bypass or major public transport infrastructure announcements were included as part of the latest Victoria Park update, with the proposed precinct largely expected to rely on the existing rail and bus network connections servicing the surrounding area.
