A burst pipe has left dozens of residents without water in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on Wednesday.
Sydney Water confirmed the water had been shut off to 36 homes on New South Head Road in Double Bay since 1am, following damage caused by a third party.
The break has since been isolated while urgent repairs take place.
The provider said it expected to restore water to the affected properties by 1pm, but a further update was yet to be provided by 1.30pm.
“Sydney Water apologises for the disruption and thanks the community for its patience while we work to restore normal operations,” a spokesperson said.
A message is displayed alongside a map on the Sydney Water website, which details the streets impacted by the burst water main.
“Our crews are responding to a burst water main on New South Head Rd, Double Bay that is affecting water supply to customers in the area,” the message said.
“We will restore the supply as quickly as we can.
“We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The New South Wales government-owned company supplies 1.5 billion litres of drinking water to homes and businesses every day.
Supply is available at least 99.7 per cent of the time across all water systems, according to the website.
