The last time Radiohead toured Australia was in 2012, in support of the underrated eighth album The King of Limbs. Needless to say, fans have been stinging for a return ever since. We got a little taste when frontman Thom Yorke performed a series of career-spanning shows here in October 2024, but that’s as close as we’ve come to seeing the legendary British rock band perform in more than a decade.
It looks like the wait might almost be over. Postcards emblazoned with “Radiohead 2027” and a QR code linking back to the band’s official merchandise website W.A.S.T.E have been found at multiple locations in Melbourne, including Readings in Carlton and Dutch Vinyl in Abbotsford. Now, there are reports on social media of more postcards appearing in Sydney and Perth.
While we’ve yet to hear an official “Boo” from the Radiohead camp, the band has pulled stunts like this before. The five-piece reunited last year for the first time since 2018 with a limited run of shows in Europe and the UK. They announced those gigs via postcard in a similarly enigmatic fashion.
But there’s even more to suggest an Australian tour next year. The band is tipped to play upcoming Japanese music festival Summer Sonic (again, mysterious postcards) and guitarist Ed O’Brien recently teased a return to major touring in 2027, with Oceania as a contender.
If they don’t come through, well, it’ll be a monumental Let Down.
