BEER NAME?
Hoggies Hazy IPA
WHERE’S IT FROM?
Hogg Culture Brewing Co.
WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT IT?
Hills-based independent craft brewers Hogg Culture Brewing Co. has been steadily building a reputation for small batch, big flavoured beers.
But some beers deserve a wider audience.
The family-run brewery has been producing hop-forward IPAs — alongside pale ales, lagers, stouts and more — from its Kalamunda base since 2019. But for its latest release, the Hoggies Hazy IPA, it has borrowed the production facilities of fellow WA independent craft brewers Rocky Ridge to create a bigger batch for us to enjoy.
Hoggies Hazy IPA is packed with Cryo Strata, Citra and Mosaic hops for a juicy, full-bodied hop profile.
When you crack the 500mL can, it’s all about the tropical fruit aromas. There’s plenty of passionfruit up front, with sweet pineapple and ripe mango not far behind, as well as hints of grapefruit and citrus.
It pours a pale golden colour, almost like a pineapple juice, with significant haze and a frothy white head that collapses slowly.

The first sip reveals a juice bomb of flavours, with a wave of tropical sweetness and stone fruit at first, balanced by a mild but ever present bitterness. It has a soft, pillowy mouthfeel and creaminess on the mid-palate before coming to a silky smooth finish.
SHOULD I SHARE IT?
The big fruit character hides the big 6.6 per cent ABV, inviting another sip but ideal for slow drinking or sharing with friends.
WHAT’S THE DAMAGE?
$13.50 each for a 500mL can or $45 for a four-pack.
