Queensland’s richest man Clive Palmer has moored his superyacht in the Brisbane River in time for all the fireworks marking the start of the Brisbane Festival on Saturday.

But this time around he has a different vantage point.

The reason why Palmer (illustrated) was allowed to park his superyacht in one of the city’s best Riverfire viewing positions was, we’re told, that it was too big to fit in the area set aside for recreational boats. Evidently there’s been a change in thinking.

This year the $40m vessel found a berth further down the river on the eastern side of the Story Bridge, opposite Howard Smith Wharves.

Regardless there should be plenty of fireworks for all to see with a new barge added between the Victoria Bridge and Neville Bonner Bridge.

And the Palmer family and close friends will enjoy the fireworks from the superyacht that features two sundecks, an outdoor and indoor bar and jacuzzi.

Swift promotion

Brisbane-headquartered fintech Swyftx has confirmed the positions of the two women who will take the company into the future

New chair Cathryn Lyall and chief executive Andrea Yuen will stay in the positions they were given in the interim earlier this year.

Co-founder Alex Harper, who was acting co-CEO with Yuen will stand down and resume his Board duties as an executive director at the business.

Swyftx is no longer a crypto-asset only platform and was granted an Australian Financial Services Licence in July by the corporate regulator.

The business launched licenced leverage trading in the same month, as Swyftx became the first Australian cryptocurrency exchange to offer exposure to traditional assets alongside crypto.

Lyall says Yuen is the right person to lead the business through its next phase.

“Swyftx is no longer a crypto-asset only platform and Andrea’s background in leadership

roles across different APAC financial centres make her an ideal candidate to lead the

business into this new era,” she says.

Toy milestone

Gold Coast toy brand SquishOz is heading for another major retail milestone, signing on as a supplier to Kmart just weeks after selling out more than 20,000 toys through a national Coles campaign.

The rapidly growing brand, developed by Gold Coast-based Scout.Supply, will see SquishOz products hit Kmart stores in the new year as the business continues to expand.

The Kmart agreement comes off the back of a major result for SquishOz, which sold more than 20,000 officially licensed Socceroos SquishOz toys through Coles during an exclusive FIFA World Cup promotion.

The Coles range sold out nationally, marking the biggest retail result in SquishOz’s 18-month history.

Across wholesale and direct-to-consumer sales, SquishOz has now sold just under 100,000 units since launching at the 2025 Australian Open.

Scout.Supply managing director Kevin Painter says the Coles result was an incredible moment.

“To now have Kmart coming on board is another really important step and gives us the opportunity to get SquishOz in front of even more Australian families,” he says.
