A boy has been injured after he was hit by a car outside a primary school in Perth’s north.
Emergency services were called to St Peter’s Primary School after a grey Volkswagen Tiguan station sedan and child collided on Wood St, near Buller St, at Inglewood about 8.40am on Tuesday.
“The driver remained at the scene and is assisting with inquiries,” a police spokesman said.
A St John WA spokesman said paramedics assessed the boy at the scene and took him by road to the Perth Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
Principal Daine Burnett advised parents about the traffic accident that occurred on Tuesday morning in a letter seen by NewsWire.
“At the time of the incident, traffic was travelling at very low speed. The student involved was attended to by St John Ambulance and is not in a serious or critical condition,” Mr Burnett said.
“My immediate priority has been the care of the student involved, their family, and members of our school community who may have witnessed the incident.
“Today’s incident is a timely reminder for all members of our community to exercise particular care during school drop-off and pick-up times.”
Parents were told emergency response procedures were followed and police attended the scene as required.
