The Cats have been locked in for three Thursday night matches, as well as a Friday night clash at the MCG against Melbourne, which has emerged as a shock finals contender this year.<\/p>\n<p> Fremantle, Western Bulldogs, Brisbane Lions, Adelaide Crows and Collingwood have all been scheduled into three prime time games.<\/p>\n<p>One of the Magpies\u2019 clashes will be in Round 18 on a Friday night against the Kangaroos. It\u2019s one of two prime time matches for North, which will also face the Western Bulldogs on a Thursday night in Round 22. Excluding Good Friday twilight matches and a unique Gather Round timeslot in 2024, the Roos\u2019 clash with Collingwood will be their first prime time Friday night match since Round 8, 2022 and just their second this decade.<\/p>\n<p>Finals contender Gold Coast wasn\u2019t given a Thursday or Friday fixture, along with Carlton, Essendon, Port Adelaide and Richmond. In Round 20, the Demons-Cats clash will start 30 minutes before the second western derby of the season, with Fremantle to host West Coast at Optus Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The AFL said its main reasoning for scheduling Friday double-headers was to \u201cmanage breaks between matches for clubs, while maximising prime time audiences and crowd outcomes for local fanbases\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>AFL Head of Strategy and Scheduling Josh Bowler said when finalising the second half of the fixture, the league\u2019s priority was to \u201cdeliver the best prime time football to our fans right across the country as we build momentum ahead of the finals series\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Papley of the Swans celebrates kicking a goal.
