Coastal Advisory Australia has\u00a0acquired\u00a0two Brisbane-based advice firms, Capital Focused and True Journey Financial Planning, solidifying its foothold in Queensland.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Founded in 2001 and based in Brisbane\u2019s CBD, Capital is a family wealth specialist firm\u00a0with three financial planners\u00a0and three client service officers, with\u00a0co-founders Michael and Claire\u00a0Kennedy leading the firm as managing partner and chief financial officer, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As part of the deal,\u00a0which is scheduled to settle on 28 April,\u00a0all team members have secured a role at Coastal following the transaction which the group is reflects its\u00a0\u201ccommitment to\u00a0people through every stage of growth\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On joining Coastal,\u00a0Michael Kennedy said\u00a0this will give Capital the ability to\u00a0strengthen\u00a0their business operations and focus on client-facing\u00a0responsibilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0want to simply replicate what had already been built\u00a0\u2013 we\u00a0wanted to improve outcomes for our clients by putting their portfolios to work using professionally managed accounts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cJoining Coastal gives us the ability to scale our client offer, automate our operations, and be part of something genuinely national. It also gives me the opportunity to focus on what I do best \u2013 advising clients and growing the business \u2013 rather than running the day-to-day of a small practice. The partnership with Merchant only strengthens that proposition further.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Coastal entered a long-term strategic partnership<\/a>\u00a0with the New York-based\u00a0capital partner Merchant Wealth Partners in January 2025. The group has since\u00a0utilised the backing to support their national expansion through M&A partnerships across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The team at Capital will expand\u00a0Coastal\u2019s\u00a0existing Brisbane presence following the\u00a0acquisition\u00a0of True Journey Financial Planning\u00a0in late March.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adding True Journey\u2019s resources to the group enhanced its advice delivery, according to the group, by\u00a0strengthening its online and digital offering\u00a0capabilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe move supports Coastal\u2019s ambition to increase accessibility to quality financial advice for more Australians, regardless of location,\u201d it said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Director and financial adviser at True Journey Tamara Gillman said joining Coastal\u00a0provides\u00a0an opportunity for the business to do more for its clients.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ability to scale our digital offering, access a broader national network, and continue delivering truly personalised advice was what made this the right move. Coastal\u2019s values aligned with ours from day one, and that made all the difference,\u201d Gillman said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The advice group has been on a mission to complete 15 M&A deals in the 2025\/26\u00a0financial year. With the addition of Capital Focused, the group is another step closer to achieving this.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Money Management understands Coastal is set to sign their 15th\u00a0deal\u00a0in the near future, ahead of the 30 June deadline.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Reflecting on their progress so far, Coastal chief executive Daniel Brown said,\u00a0\u201cThis is just the beginning of what is shaping up to be a milestone year for Coastal\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
