A former Brisbane doctor has been charged with 148 counts of rape and sexual assault following an extensive police investigation that saw 15 patients come forward.<\/p>\n

Queensland Police charged Stellios (Stan) Theodoros on Tuesday morning with 94 counts of rape and 54 counts of sexual assault.<\/p>\n

Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch established Operation Xray Cariyna in August last year after multiple women made complaints to police.<\/p>\n

Police allege that between the early 2000s to 2015, the 74-year-old Highgate Hill man sexually assaulted 15 women, aged in their late teens to 40s, during his role as a doctor at a health centre in Tarragindi.<\/p>\n

The family GP worked at Wellers Hill Medical Centre until his retirement in 2021 and was removed as a company director last year.<\/p>\n

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on 23 June.\u00a0<\/p>\n

UMG CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Denis Silk asked members of the public with information to\u00a0“come forward directly to us or anonymously to Crime stoppers.”<\/p>\n

One former patient who made a police complaint\u00a0told the ABC the charges were “a long time coming”.<\/p>\n

“It’s such a relief. This is the biggest milestone and it needed to be known that charges have been laid,” she said.<\/p>\n

Police say\u00a0investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
