A one-time Brisbane real estate agent accused of sexually assaulting a woman has been granted bail. <\/p>\n
In granting Callum Lazzarini, who had been on remand for 40 days, bail Justice Paul Smith said the allegations were serious however the defendant effectively had no history and strict conditions could ameliorate any risks. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s alleged Lazzarini accosted a woman visiting his home touching her buttocks, pinning her to the bed and kissing her breasts, Brisbane Supreme Court heard. <\/p>\n
The woman fought back as she tried to leave, headbutting Lazzarini and biting his shoulder. <\/p>\n
The Crown allege Lazzarini persisted and touched the outside of the woman\u2019s genitalia over clothing before desisting. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo it is serious although fortunately the injuries were not more serious,\u201d Justice Smith said on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
He said messages allegedly later sent by Lazzarini to the woman showed a \u201clack of insight\u201d.<\/p>\n
Lazzarini is facing three counts of sexual assault and one count each of deprivation of liberty and obstruct police.<\/p>\n
His barrister Damien Gates said his client had strong family support and some of the allegations would be contested, raising the prospect of delay.<\/p>\n
\u201cCertainly for someone like Mr Lazzarini he\u2019s never before been incarcerated, this is 40 days he\u2019s been in custody,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cNo full brief has been provided.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said Lazzarini would be working at Brisbane Airport while on bail for a security firm and also at his father\u2019s property business doing \u201cback of house type assistance administrative work\u201d.<\/p>\n
The defendant was listed as a real estate agent on the website of Lazzarini Properties based on Brisbane\u2019s north side.<\/p>\n
\u201cCallum\u2019s reputation as one of Brisbane northside\u2019s up and coming rising stars is something he takes very seriously,\u201d the site said.<\/p>\n
However the Office of Fair Trading confirmed Lazzarini \u201cdoes not hold a current real estate agent licence or registration in Queensland\u201d. <\/p>\n
It\u2019s understood his real estate salespersons registration expired in July 2023. <\/p>\n
Lazzarini\u2019s bail application was opposed by Helen Booth for the DPP. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe offending is serious and my concern is the particular nature of the messages \u2026 demonstrates this very strong, if I can call it perhaps sexual obsession with the complainant,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
