A Queensland woman, accused of the hit and run murder of Kiesha Thompson south of Brisbane, will stand trial for the 23-year-old’s death.<\/p>\n

Larissa Rita Mae-Leigh Sant is accused of planning to kill Ms Thompson, her then partner’s ex-girlfriend, before striking her with a Prado while she was walking in Daisy Hill on July 19, 2024.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Ms Sant appeared via video at her committal hearing in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court, which heard evidence from seven witnesses.<\/p>\n

Rachel Sok, who lived on a street nearby to the alleged crime scene, told the court she heard a “really, really horrible \u2026 loud screeching noise”, before looking up and seeing a four-wheel-drive speed off down the road.<\/p>\n

“I looked back up, I saw the body and I called Triple Zero,” she said.<\/p>\n

The hearing also heard from Fiona Winterburn, \u00a0who had been walking her dog along Allamanda Drive on the day Ms Thompson was killed.<\/p>\n

She told the committal hearing she heard a bang before noticing a car fishtail down the street, then drive back toward her with what appeared to be woman in the driver’s seat.<\/p>\n

“I remember seeing a dark hood over someone’s head \u2026 the driver was wearing big dark glasses,” Ms Winterburn told police in her witness statement at the time.<\/p>\n

She said, “I remember thinking ‘silly woman’ after seeing the driver.<\/p>\n

“Her features made me think it was a woman \u2026 they might have had a small nose \u2026 petite features” and “female style large sunglasses”.<\/p>\n

The court was also shown a map, which Ms Winterburn had written on for police, outlining where she later saw a woman lying on the ground.<\/p>\n

A third witness, Angela Williams, gave evidence that she looked outside her window and saw a woman with her hair tied up get out of a vehicle and call out to someone, before returning while talking on the phone.<\/p>\n

“I could hear the noise of yelling, I just couldn’t make out the distinct words,” she told the court.<\/p>\n

“At the time when I saw the person leave, I saw them come back, they were wearing the same clothes, same hair”.<\/p>\n

After hearing all of the evidence presented at the committal hearing, the magistrate committed Ms Sant to stand trial for Ms Thompson’s murder at a future date.<\/p>\n

“You are charged with an aggravated offence of murder, being a domestic violence offence,” the magistrate told the court.<\/p>\n

Ms Sant pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n

Outside court, Ms Sant’s defence lawyer Ken Mackenzie told media he would not discuss his client’s case while it was ongoing.<\/p>\n

Ms Sant has been out on bail since December 2024, under strict conditions including adhering to a curfew, limited phone use and being required to report to police several times a week.<\/p>\n
