{"id":15608,"date":"2026-05-21T05:26:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T05:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/15608\/"},"modified":"2026-05-21T05:26:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T05:26:11","slug":"queensland-olympics-minister-tim-mander-referred-to-afp-over-electoral-enrolment-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/15608\/","title":{"rendered":"Queensland Olympics Minister Tim Mander referred to AFP over electoral enrolment status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Queensland&#8217;s under-fire Olympics Minister Tim Mander has been referred to the Australian Federal Police over his electoral enrolment status.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) confirmed on Thursday it had made the referral.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The election watchdog said it had sought information from Mr Mander about the matter, and this included an opportunity for him to provide information to support his enrolment claim.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;While a determination has not been made, the AEC does consider that there is currently an absence of compelling evidence to determine Mr Mander resided at the enrolled address,&#8221; a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As such, on 19 May the AEC referred this matter to the AFP for their consideration, and any action they consider appropriate.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">In April, it was revealed Mr Mander had enrolled to vote at the address of a staff member.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">At the time, Mr Mander insisted he had updated the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) with his correct details every time his circumstances changed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Earlier this month, when he was quizzed about the issue, Mr Mander said he was going through the process with the AEC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t want to undermine that process,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">At a press conference in May, Mr Mander also insisted an Arana Hills address was his &#8220;principal place of residence&#8221; from early January to the end of March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The ABC has contacted the Premier David Crisafulli&#8217;s office to seek a response from Mr Mander.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The sports minister, who represents the electorate of Everton in Brisbane&#8217;s north, has been in state parliament since 2012.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Tim Mander talking and gesticulating to underscore his point\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/acb770edbe1e21fd5d17ddbd1ba9541b.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Tim Mander represents the electorate of Everton on Brisbane&#8217;s northside and has been in state parliament since 2012.
