A nightmare Cathay Pacific flight from Brisbane to Hong Kong has left 10 people injured, with two Australians among those hospitalised.<\/p>\n
Six crew members and four passengers were injured after the A350-900 plane experienced severe turbulence on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It is understood that crew were beginning to serve breakfast to passengers when turbulence struck just over two hours before flight CX156\u2019s arrival in Hong Kong, according to The Australian.<\/p>\n
Those injured were medically assessed upon arrival, with eight of them being hospitalised.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the airline said the injured people \u201cwere provided with the utmost level of care\u201d, the masthead reported.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to follow up and provide the necessary assistance,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs is \u201caware of reports that two Australians had been hospitalised in Hong Kong,\u201d a department spokesperson told SkyNews.com.au.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe stand ready to offer consular assistance to any Australian citizen, should it be requested,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
Pictures of the plane\u2019s cabin shared on social media showed food items and liquid scattered across the floor and trolleys tipped over.<\/p>\n
One passenger on the flight, Cairns businessman Nicholas Stevenson, told the ABC the \u201cplane just dropped\u201d.<\/p>\n
“I thought the plane was going down,” he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Stevenson described chaotic scenes amid the turbulence, with food going \u201cabsolutely everywhere\u201d and people screaming.<\/p>\n
The businessman also said unsecured passengers were \u201cthrown around\u201d after the plane plunged twice within 15 to 20 seconds.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone that didn’t have their belts on hit the roof,” he said.<\/p>\n
