A former FBoy Island Australia contestant who allegedly suffered multiple facial fractures after being assaulted in custody has been refused bail in the Brisbane Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
Riccardo Valenza, 31, from Mooloolaba, was seeking release on strict bail conditions on Wednesday after spending about three months in custody.<\/p>\n
Mr Valenza, who appeared on the 2023 season of the reality dating show, faces 47 charges involving 12 separate complainants, including 14 counts of rape, stalking, harassment and administering a stupefying drug.<\/p>\n
He has not entered any pleas and did not appear in person.<\/p>\n
Police allege he engaged with multiple women on social media between July 2023 and November 2025, soliciting sexual acts for money.<\/p>\n
The alleged complainants are aged between 26 and 35.<\/p>\n
The court was told Mr Valenza was initially granted bail after being charged with eight offences in October last year before police appealed for more alleged victims to come forward.<\/p>\n
Crown prosecutor Dani Giorgio told the court that further complainants later came forward, leading to dozens more charges.<\/p>\n
Ms Giorgio said police searched Mr Valenza\u2019s property on February 23 and allegedly found multiple mobile phones despite bail conditions restricting him to one device for business purposes only.<\/p>\n
It was also alleged he contacted at least one complainant through Instagram while on bail.<\/p>\n
The court was told Mr Valenza had allegedly been assaulted while in custody and suffered \u201cmultiple facial fractures\u201d.<\/p>\n
Defence solicitor Nathan Turner said his client had been hospitalised twice following the alleged attack and had never previously been in custody.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s now got acute awareness to comply,\u201d Mr Turner told the court.<\/p>\n
Mr Turner argued strict proposed bail conditions, including curfews, reporting requirements, travel restrictions, a ban on social media and limits on phone use, would significantly reduce any risk of reoffending.<\/p>\n
The defence also argued some complainants had continued communicating with Mr Valenza on social media after the alleged offending, including through Snapchat and Instagram.<\/p>\n
However, Ms Giorgio said it was \u201cdifficult\u201d to determine the timing and context of some messages because screenshots tendered to the court were incomplete and some conversations appeared to have been deleted.<\/p>\n
The court was told Mr Valenza had previously been sentenced over matters involving two women and was serving good behaviour bonds at the time of some of the alleged offending.<\/p>\n
Justice Martin Burns said the allegations included \u201cserious (alleged) offending while out on bail\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said if Mr Valenza was found to have committed any of the offences, he would be in breach of the existing good behaviour orders.<\/p>\n
During the hearing, Mr Turner argued some complainants were involved in consensual \u201ctransactional\u201d arrangements involving money, explicit images and sexual activity.<\/p>\n
He also disputed allegations linked to administering a stupefying drug, telling the court he had reviewed a video recording lasting between 30 and 40 minutes and, in his opinion, the complainant did not appear sedated or incapacitated.<\/p>\n
Justice Burns said the alleged breaches weighed heavily against the application.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe presents as an unacceptable risk,\u201d Justice Burns said.<\/p>\n
He ultimately found concerns about Mr Valenza\u2019s alleged previous bail breaches outweighed the proposed conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe concern I have \u2026 is whether he will comply with those conditions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the end my concern is fuelled by what appears to be fairly strong prosecution cases on the breach of bail charges he faces.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Valenza\u2019s bail application was refused and the matter was adjourned to a later date.<\/p>\n
