action this Saturday for Leg 1 of the Ninja A-League Semi Finals, taking on cross-town rivals Melbourne Victory in the first of two blockbuster clashes with a place in the Grand Final on the line.

After securing the Premiers Plate in record-breaking fashion, Michael Matricciani’s side now turns its attention to the next goal, fighting for the Championship trophy.

Here are the key storylines ahead of Saturday’s Semi Final opener.

DERBY DAY ON THE BIG STAGE

There’s no bigger occasion than a Melbourne Derby in the Ninja A-League, and with finals football now in play, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

City and Victory will go head-to-head across two legs, with Saturday’s opener at AAMI Park setting the tone for what promises to be a fierce and tightly contested Semi Final.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="336737" intensity, quality and big moments, and with a Grand Final spot up for grabs, expect nothing less this weekend as both teams fight to kick-off the first of two Semi Finals on top.

HUNTING MORE SILVERWARE

The Premiers Plate may already be secured, and in record-breaking fashion, but City’s ambitions extend far beyond one trophy.

Matricciani’s side became the first team to win three consecutive Premiers Plates in the full home-and-away era, underlining their dominance across the regular season.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" Championship and the AFC Women’s Champions League still to play for, the focus now shifts to building on that success.

Saturday presents the first step in that journey, an opportunity to move closer to another piece of silverware as the team embarks on what could be a historic campaign.

RARING TO GO

It’s been just under a month since City last took the field, and after an extended break between the end of the regular season and the Semi Finals, the squad will be itching to get back out there.

The time away has allowed for recovery, preparation and
