A man has been charged with murder after he allegedly beat an elderly man to death with a pole during a series of wild attacks in central Queensland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police<\/a> allege a man driving a Subaru Liberty on Whitebridge Rd at North Isis, near Childers, stopped his car, got out, and punched an elderly pedestrian in the head<\/a> before hitting him with a metal pole about 2.38pm on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

The pedestrian, a 78-year-old North Isis man who was walking his dog at the time, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.<\/p>\n

Police allege the same suspect had less than 10 minutes earlier deliberately reversed into a Mitsubishi Pajero, before reversing into the 65-year-old male driver when he exited to look at his damaged car.<\/p>\n

The suspect is then alleged to have punched the Mitsubishi driver multiple times before leaving the scene.<\/p>\n

Police further allege the suspect drove to Crescent St at the intersection of Lord St in Childers and assaulted a 66-year-old man.<\/p>\n

A 36-year-old Bundaberg West man was restrained by members of the public before he was arrested by police a short time later. <\/p>\n

Police said none of the victims are believed to be known to the man.<\/p>\n

He is also alleged to have been involved in an earlier crash on the Bruce Hwy at Glenorchy, when the Subaru was deliberately reversed into a Tesla, before he verbally assaulted the driver.<\/p>\n

The man has been charged with multiple offences, including murder and attempted murder. <\/p>\n

He will appear at Gladstone Magistrates Court via video link on Thursday. <\/p>\n

Investigations are ongoing, and anyone with relevant vision or information is urged to contact police. <\/p>\n
