Picture: Sky News<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Tensions escalated as authorities gave campers a 2pm deadline to pack up and leave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">By about 2.20pm, officers moved in and started taking down the camp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While one group departed the park peacefully, a larger faction refused to budge, chanting, \u201calways was, always will be Indigenous land\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In an updated statement on Friday evening, Queensland Police said a total of five people were taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cOfficers have spent the day supporting partner agencies as they undertake engagement, offers of support services and compliance action, if necessary, with a focus on maintaining community safety and ensuring the safety of all involved,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A man, 50, and woman, 38, were taken into custody in relation to public nuisance, contravening police direction and assault police offences during the initial engagement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Another 50-year-old man and 29-year-old man were taken into custody in the afternoon, in relation to obstruct and assault police offences<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cA 32-year-old woman was also taken into custody for breach of peace, however, was released without charge,\u201d the spokesperson continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ownership of the parkland is scheduled to transfer to the Games independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority on Monday, at which point the site will be fenced off for five years.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Authorities issued a 2pm deadline for protesters to remove their tents and belongings from the inner-city parkland. However, the state government bypassed several heritage and planning laws last year to fast-track the build.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie warned that outstanding federal challenges would not delay the project, citing safety risks once the area becomes an active construction zone.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"The state government bypassed several heritage, planning, and environmental laws last year to fast-track the Brisbane 2032 centrepiece project.
