{"id":20938,"date":"2026-05-29T15:04:50","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T15:04:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/20938\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T15:04:50","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T15:04:50","slug":"adelaide-university-hosting-presentation-against-one-nation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/20938\/","title":{"rendered":"Adelaide University hosting presentation against One Nation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Adelaide University will promote a savage attack on political party One Nation and its supporters which includes an \u201cantidote\u201d \u2013 a \u201cvaccine\u201d of trade union membership.<\/p>\n<p>The university\u2019s journalism school is calling for \u201cdemocratic legitimacy\u201d which would educate One Nation voters away from what it calls the party\u2019s \u201ctoxic gravitational pull\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adelaidenow.com.au\/news\/south-australia\/one-nation-enters-the-chat-as-greens-storm-out-of-bernardis-maiden-speech\/news-story\/b9eb9cedd15ef532b594c24a8aeab4a0\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"b9eb9cedd15ef532b594c24a8aeab4a0\" data-tgev-label=\"news\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">One Nation state leader Cory Bernardi<\/a> blasted the university\u2019s presentation as an anti-democratic forum which demonises anyone who does not support left-wing politicians.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation by multiple senior lecturers on June 5 drags in US President Donald Trump for criticism in part of the Australian Festival of Democracy &amp; Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p>An invitation to attend says the election of One Nation MPs now will see Australia \u201cjoining other advanced democracies in grappling with the rise of the far right, a phenomenon that has seen the US democracy crumbling under Trump\u2019s MAGA regime\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation says it will discuss \u201cthe problems of the far right through the lens of equality, truth and democratic legitimacy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It also will \u201cpropose solutions to counter its toxic gravitational pull\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>These discussions will include examining what is calls \u201caggrieved egalitarianism\u201d as well as \u201cstructural inequality\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A special guest will be Oscar Kaspi-Crutchett, an organiser at the Victorian Trades Hall Council.<\/p>\n<p>He will present ideas from the trade union report entitled \u201cAntidote\u201d which argues trade unionism is the best \u201cvaccine\u201d against what it labels as far-right politics.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Victoria Fielding, senior lecturer at Adelaide University, will discuss how President Trump\u2019s Make America Great Again \u201cnarrative is underpinned by structural lies which mislead voters about the movement\u2019s true political interests\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr Bernardi said it was a case of a \u201cdiploma mill becoming a toxic mix of left-wing professors peddling insane antiquated ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey need to be held to account,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s extraordinary \u2013 they say it is in the name of democracy but they are bringing in trade union leaders and demonising voters. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an anti-democratic forum.
