{"id":21256,"date":"2026-05-30T06:42:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T06:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/21256\/"},"modified":"2026-05-30T06:42:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T06:42:08","slug":"elderly-woman-dies-in-resort-apartment-fire-on-gold-coast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/21256\/","title":{"rendered":"Elderly woman dies in resort apartment fire on Gold Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">An elderly woman has died in a fire in a high-rise apartment building on the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Emergency services responded to reports of smoke alarms at Neptune Resort in Broadbeach just after 11am today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Surfers Paradise Fire and Rescue station officer Glenn McKissack said the fire broke out in the bedroom of a level three apartment, where the woman was found.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The whole building was evacuated,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;The third floor where the fire was was smoke logged. (ABC News: Heloise Vyas)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;They&#8217;ve done an amazing job to get into that unit, which was heavily smoke logged and full of flames and remove that elderly lady out to QAS,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;They have contained the fire to the unit so the scene is preserved quite well for investigators.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Police and the fire department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A crime scene has been declared.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An elderly woman has died in a fire in a high-rise apartment building on the Gold Coast.
