A child has died in a house fire in Melbourne’s south-west overnight.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to a house in Newbury Street, Werribee, just after midnight.<\/p>\n
Victoria Police said a resident of the home died and a 40-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious burns.<\/p>\n

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) have since confirmed the victim was a child.<\/p>\n
The child’s grandmother, Tracey, identified the victim as three-year-old Jordan Dashwood.<\/p>\n

Relatives told the ABC another child, aged 11, escaped the fire by jumping out of a window.<\/p>\n
The injured man is understood to be the father of the two children.<\/p>\n
FRV said peer support and counselling have been made available to first responders.<\/p>\n

FRV said crews arrived at the scene within three minutes of the blaze being reported to find the house fully ablaze.<\/p>\n
Police say the circumstances of the fire are being investigated, and an arson chemist will attend the scene.<\/p>\n
