{"id":24004,"date":"2026-06-03T10:01:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T10:01:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/24004\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T10:01:22","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T10:01:22","slug":"jewish-leaders-slam-abc-over-grace-tame-podcast-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/australia\/24004\/","title":{"rendered":"Jewish leaders slam ABC over Grace Tame podcast announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ABC is facing criticism <a class=\"body-link\" capiid=\"c14760b80e906559dec78e5f47d753bb\">from Jewish leaders<\/a>, politicians and even one of its own high-profile presenters over its decision to proceed with a podcast hosted by Grace Tame, just weeks after she dismissed the rape of Israeli women by Hamas terrorists as \u201cpropaganda\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday the ABC announced the controversial activist would host a four-part podcast, Autistic AF with Grace Tame, which will explore what life is like for autistic women and gender-\u00addiverse people in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>It was first announced in Nov\u00adember that Tame had been commissioned to work on the ABC\u2019s podcast platform in 2026, but that was before she made a series of inflammatory remarks about the conflict in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Tame led a chant of \u201cFrom Gadigal to Gaza, globalise the intifada\u201d at a pro-Palestine rally in Sydney, opposing a visit to Australia by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, whom she labelled a \u201cwar criminal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The following month, Tame told ABC Radio host Hamish Macdonald that reports of Israeli women being raped by Hamas terrorists on<a class=\"body-link\" href=\"%20https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/inquirer\/when-identity-politics-makes-violence-virtuous-grace-tame-and-the-denial-of-october-7\/news-story\/5afbb60931202c26f6bfffc930f19aae\" target=\"_self\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"5afbb60931202c26f6bfffc930f19aae\" data-tgev-label=\"inquirer\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\"> October 7 had been \u201cdebunked\u201d. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jewish leaders expressed outraged over the ABC\u2019s decision to proceed with the Tame podcast, accusing the public broadcaster of a \u201cprofound lack of judgment\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Jewish Community Condemns Decision<\/p>\n<p>Australian Jewish Association chief Robert Gregory said he thought at first the ABC announcement was a joke. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI simply could not believe Australia\u2019s public broadcaster could be so tone deaf,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision demonstrates a profound lack of judgment and disregard for the concerns of many Australians, particularly within the Jewish community. It reinforces the growing perception that <a class=\"body-link capi-link\" data-id=\"8e74af0ce8c2ea1de7acba9b8ca34ec5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/nation\/politics\/abc-reporting-on-gaza-war-failed-nation-feeding-into-demonisation-of-israel-fuelling-antisemitism\/news-story\/8e74af0ce8c2ea1de7acba9b8ca34ec5\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"8e74af0ce8c2ea1de7acba9b8ca34ec5\" data-tgev-label=\"nation\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ABC management <\/a>is increasingly out of touch with the communities it is supposed to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-chief executive Alex Ryvchin told The Australian that the ABC\u2019s decision to proceed with Ms Tame\u2019s podcast, even after her widely-panned anti-\u00adIsrael public statements, sent a message that such conduct carried no consequences and even brought financial rewards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems the ABC has determined that Grace Tame is fit for employment at public expense after screaming chants widely interpreted as calling for global attacks on Jews, and a radio interview in which she doubled down on <a class=\"body-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/commentary\/why-grace-tames-denial-of-hamas-rapes-is-a-betrayal-of-all-women\/news-story\/2711a23f0387288de1342a84e5f8215c\" target=\"_blank\" data-tgev=\"event119\" data-tgev-container=\"bodylink\" data-tgev-order=\"2711a23f0387288de1342a84e5f8215c\" data-tgev-label=\"commentary\" data-tgev-metric=\"ev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">her comments questioning the widespread pack rape and sexual torture committed by Hamas,<\/a> which the terrorists themselves never denied,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone deserves a second chance but Tame has shown no remorse or regret whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ABC presenter Charlie Pickering said the decision to allow Tame\u2019s podcast to proceed was \u201cproblematic\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Referencing Tame\u2019s comments about the intifada and the October 7, 2023, attacks, Pickering told Rebel News Australia on Tuesday: \u201cI think, as a Jewish Australian, there\u2019s a complete misunderstanding of a lot of the words that are said and what (the) true meanings of them are.
