Simon Helmot<\/a> has stood down as the Melbourne Renegades WBBL coach after five seasons in order to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Helmot, who is currently working with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026 as an assistant under Dan Vettori, has been Renegades’ WBBL coach since 2021 and took the club to their inaugural title in 2024. Following that title win, he re-signed with Renegades for three more seasons but after coaching in just one in 2025, where Renegades finished fifth, he is departing the club for a new challenge.<\/p>\n

Renegades general manager James Rosengarten paid tribute to Helmot’s contribution to the club. “Simon has been an extraordinary Renegades person for a long time, and someone who has given so much to our club,” Rosengarten said. “He’s not only delivered success on the field but has had a profound impact on the people and the environment around him.<\/p>\n

“The way he connects with players, staff and fans and the care he brings to his work has left a lasting mark on our program and the broader Victorian cricket community. He leaves with our full support as he takes on an exciting new opportunity, and we’re incredibly proud to see him continue his journey. He will always be a valued part of the Renegades family.”<\/p>\n

The 54-year-old Helmot has been an integral part of Renegades’ organisation since the start of the BBL in 2011-12, when he was Renegades’ inaugural men’s BBL coach for four seasons.
